Importance of Protein for birds!!

Birds do need protein in their diet. Depending on age and activity of the birds this should be monitored. Older birds or less active birds will need less protein. There are two proteins namely complete protein that contains all the amino acids and incomplete proteins that only contain some of the amino acids.

Many seeds contain protein and to achieve a balance in the type eaten a good mixture of seeds needs to be available, as is in the Elite Pet Product mixes. Typical protein rich seeds and nuts are the likes of sunflower seeds, millet, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, oats, lentils, split peas, corn, and peanuts.

Every molting bird needs extra proteins to grow strong feathers for proper flight and effective insulation against the elements of cold and wind. Feathers are over 90% protein, primarily keratins. A bird's feathers contain 25% of the total protein found within its entire body.
